Torre dell’Aquila o “torre segata” - Pisa in Toscana
È un’importante torre confinaria facente parte del sistema difensivo con epicentro nella Rocca di Ripafratta, al confine tra Pisa e Lucca. Il suo primitivo nome fu quello di “Rocca” o “Torre dell’Aquila” e subì, come tutto il sistema difensivo a cui apparteneva, le distruzioni ad opera sia dei pisani che dei lucchesi. È certo che nel momento in cui Pisa cadde in mano ai fiorentini la torre, unica testimonianza dell’antica rocca dell’Aquila, venne demolita verticalmente dalla parte verso Pisa. Ancora oggi la “torre segata” segna il confine tra Pisa e Lucca.
