Chiesa di San Frediano - Pisa in Toscana
Da osservare con interesse: TELE ED AFFRESCHI - opere di Ventura Salimbeni; ADORAZIONE DEI MAGI - dipinto di Aurelio Lomi; CROCE DIPINTA - seconda metà del secolo XII; SACRA FAMIGLIA - affresco attribuito a Giuseppe Melani.
Fondata intorno al secolo XI si ritiene sia stata legata ad un ospedale per bisognosi sino al 1077, anno in cui vi si stabilirono i Monaci Camaldolesi. L’edificio costituisce uno degli esempi più insigni del primo romanico pisano. Nel primo decennio del secolo XVII furono costruite le cappelle laterali. Nel 1603 fu realizzato il soffitto ligneo, ornato da ricche decorazioni. Nel 1675 la chiesa venne ristrutturata e costruita la volta della navata centrale. All’interno, ad unica aula, sia gli arredi fissi che le ricercate decorazioni murali contribuiscono a creare un effetto d'insieme organico e rigoroso.
