Chiesa dei Santi Lorenzo e Bartolomeo, Pontedera - Pisa in Toscana
Si presenta oggi con una semplice facciata in stile romanico che i restauri del 1957 hanno riportato in luce, riscoprendo il rosone centrale e tamponando le due finestre laterali. Il severo portone in arenaria del 1720 è testimonianza degli interventi di ammodernamento che interessarono l’edificio nei primi decenni del secolo XVIII, seguendo l’imperante gusto barocco.
L’interno, a croce latina, è ad unica navata absidata e nei bracci del transetto si aprono due cappelle. La chiesa custodisce due importanti sculture lignee policromate: la prima, raffigurante “San Bartolomeo”, è attribuita a Francesco di Valdambrino; l’altra, una “Madonna con Bambino”, risale agli ultimi decenni del secolo XVI. A lato si erge il massiccio campanile, restaurato nel 1720.
