Villa Medici, Cybo, Corsini, Lajatico - Pisa in Toscana
L’antico complesso di Spedaletto sorge in cima a dolci rilievi collinari compresi tra i fiumi Ragone ed Era. Costruito dai frati Ospedalieri di Altopascio intorno al Mille fu adibito ad ospedale per l’assistenza e l’alloggio di pellegrini e viandanti. Nella seconda metà del secolo XV l’egemonia dei Medici arrivò fino al Volterrano e Spedaletto diventò residenza di caccia di Lorenzo il Magnifico che cercò di renderla degna della sua corte chiamando artisti famosi (Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, Perugino, Lippi) ad abbellire la sua dimora di campagna.
Tali artisti affrescarono il grande ingresso che immette nel cortile, opere che purtroppo andarono perdute a causa dell’incendio avvenuto nel secolo XVII. Complesso e tenuta furono ceduti da Lorenzo in dote alla figlia Maddalena, sposa di Francesco Cybo Malaspina. Nel 1607 Alberigo Malaspina vendette tutto ai nobili fiorentini Corsini che ancora oggi sono i proprietari.
