Borgo di Luppiano, Lajatico - Pisa in Toscana
Questo grazioso castelluccio si erge su uno sperone roccioso che domina l’alta valle del torrente Fosci e che ebbe sicuramente funzione di vedetta avanzata per Volterra. Di antica edificazione, come testimoniano le strutture etrusche rinvenute nelle mura esterne, è ancora in buono stato nella sua configurazione architettonica, sebbene sia disabitato da tempo.
Oltrepassato un arco di fianco alla torre che un tempo sorvegliava l’ingresso della piccola rocca, si accede in un cortile su cui si affacciano gli edifici residenziali di tipica e movimentata architettura castellana. Scale con tettoie, ripostigli, cucine e stalle si aprono ancora oggi sul cortile, sebbene portino segni evidenti di abbandono. Tutti gli edifici sono in pietra, con poche sovrastrutture in mattoni. Solo verso nord-ovest la cinta muraria è rovinata: per il resto palesa la sua solida funzionalità, a strapiombo sul Fosci. Oggi il castello è di proprietà privata.
