Badia dei Santi Giusto e Clemente, Volterra - Pisa in Toscana
L’abbazia camaldolese con l’annessa chiesa furono costruite nel 1030 vicino alla chiesa di San Giusto al Botro, dove erano conservati i corpi dei Santi Giusto e Clemente, e che si inabissò nel secolo XVII per l’inarrestabile avanzare delle Balze. Centro di cultura e di arte, ospitò al suo interno opere di scuola giottesca e una biblioteca ricca di manoscritti. Anche se si trova in stato di generale abbandono si ammirano al suo interno l’elegante chiostro cinquecentesco e il refettorio monastico con ciclo di affreschi sulla vita di San Giusto. Della chiesa, rovinata nel 1895, rimane un’abside romanica e la massiccia torre campanaria di epoca medievale.
