Chiesa di San Girolamo, Volterra - Pisa in Toscana
La chiesa ex convento si trova fuori dalla città di Volterra, lungo la strada statale per Siena. Iniziata nel secolo XV su disegno di Michelozzo insieme all’annesso convento francescano del 1445, presenta all’esterno un portico a sei arcate a tuttosesto con ai lati due cappelle con terrecotte di Giovanni Della Robbia.
L’interno ad una sola navata non presenta opere di particolare interesse. Nell’interno, restituito in parte alle sue linee originali, ai lati dell’altare maggiore sono presenti due dipinti del secolo XV, mentre le due statue di San Girolamo e di San Francesco, in terracotta smaltata, sono attribuite a Giovanni Gonmelli, detto il Cieco di Gambassi.
