Oratorio della Madonna del Carmine, Pomarance - Pisa in Toscana
Detta anche "Pieve Vecchia", si trova a 3km dal paese sulla strada per Libbiano-Pomarance; la si raggiunge imboccando una strada sterrata. La pieve era rimasta inagibile fino al 1991, quando è stata restaurata e vi si dice la messa ogni prima domenica del mese. Inoltre da alcuni anni è stata ripresa la festa dell'Ascensione, un tempo molto sentita dalla popolazione locale.
La vecchia pieve premillenaria intitolata a San Giovanni Battista si presenta oggi come un oratorio di campagna ad un’unica navata terminante con una grande abside; è ciò che resta di una grande chiesa a tre navate, la cui facciata, a bande bianche e nere e rivolta ad ovest, costituisce la parete destra del nuovo oratorio, mentre un grosso capitello a volute e foglie acquatiche è oggi utilizzato come base di una croce all’esterno del cimitero.
