Chiesa di San Domenico - Pisa in Toscana
La chiesa era annessa ad un convento di suore domenicane; entrambi furono costruiti e donati nel 1395 da Pietro Gambacorti, signore di Pisa, alla figlia Chiara, le cui ossa furono ritrovate presso l’altare maggiore. In seguito la chiesa fu affidata all’Ordine Militare di Malta.
La chiesa è stata quasi distrutta, così come il convento, dai bombardamenti dell’ultima guerra. È stata chiusa al culto per molto tempo e riaperta nel 1998. La facciata rimasta intatta è in pietra verrucana, con bifore in alto e portale con tettoia. Gli affreschi all’interno, raffiguranti la beata Chiara, sono purtroppo andati distrutti.
