Chiesa della Madonna dei Galletti - Pisa in Tuscany
In the Middle Ages the small church was known as “Church of San Salvatore in Porta Aurea” (today disappeared). The present-day name dates back to 1640, when the fresco representing the Virgin and Child by Taddeo di Bartolo from Siena, coming from the Galletti family, was placed above the high altar.
The current church already existed in the 13th century, but it was rebuilt in the 18th century in Baroque style with an elegant wooden ceiling, executed by Del Norcia, while the outer surface is by Ignazio Pellegrini. The interior with a single nave, provided with a small chapel on each side, presents beautiful polychromatic marbles and five holy canvas.
