Chiesa dei SS Maurizio e Bibbiano - Pisa in Tuscany
Documented in 886 and 901 among the properties of the Cathedral of Lucca, the church passed to the Pisan diocese in 1139. It was modified and enlarged throughout the centuries; some traces to the south side are all that remains of the original structures.
The bell tower, embodied into the adjacent buildings of the church, was built between the 13th and 14th century. The interior with a single nave presents vaults and frescoed egg-shaped dome and keeps the early 19th-century changes made to improve the presbyterial area with the group of monochromatic frescoes depicting the deeds of “St. Maurizio, St. Bibbiano and St. Francesco Saverio” by Luigi Ademollo, working in Pisa and Lucca.
