Chiesa Monastero di Santa Maria Mirteto - Pisa in Tuscany
Situated on the slopes of Monte della Conserva, the ancient monastic village, attested since 1150, included the church of Santa Maria di Mirteto, which was under the authority of the monastery of San Michele in Verruca and later of the parish church of Asciano.
Although it was abandoned long time ago, it still maintains the medieval structure; in addition, the whole building keeps some remains of monasteries, country houses, granaries and oil mills. The church, provided with a single nave with apse, dates back to the mid-11th century and keeps interesting sculptures of the early Middle Ages.
