Villa Medicea, Cybo, Tadini - Pisa in Tuscany
Close to the Pisan Mountains is the large Tadini estate, built around a monastic structure dedicated to San Michele d’Agnanello. At the end of 1300 Giovanni Scarlatti, archbishop of Pisa, built a monastery for the Olivetan monks which was added to the monastery of the Augustinian monks of Nicosia in 1475 by another archbishop of Pisa (Pier Francesco Salviati).
By order of the same purchaser, the Olivetan monks sold the whole estate to Lorenzo the Magnificent, but they did not give up the right of pasture, olive grove, vegetable gardens, oil mill, wood-shed and two mills. Lorenzo transformed the estate into a rich game reserve and a quiet place where he could spend careless moments with his friends or with artists, such as the poet and philosopher Poliziano (who translated Iliad from Latin) and the bizarre poet Luigi Pulci.
