Chiesa di San Francesco - Pisa in Tuscany
Built between the 13th and 14th century, the church, originally belonging to the nuns of a near convent, underwent several alterations in the 17th-18th centuries. On the right stands the imposing bell tower, characterised by three orders of elegant double lancet windows and decorated with interesting sculptural inlays, among which stands out “Christ supporting the world”.
The interior, provided with single nave and transept, keeps the magnificent appearance of the 17th-18th century restoration work and houses interesting paintings datable to that period, among which the “Virgin and Child with saints” attributed to the Pisan school and four ovals with Saints “Gaetano”, “Francesca Romana”, “Joseph” and “Andrew” by Jacopo Danielli (1731).
