Chiesa Oratorio di San Domenico, Bientina - Pisa in Tuscany
The church was erected in the first half of the 17th century outside the medieval walls, near the Porta Fiorentina (Florentine gate), on a pre-existing chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Saintly Rosary; after being bombed during the Second World War, it was completely rebuilt: the reconstruction work ended in 1994.
On the left side of the brickwork building, provided with a simple façade and triangular tympanum, stands the high bell tower, which was rebuilt, too. The interior with a single nave keeps a painting of 1603 by Aurelio Lomi from Pisa with “The Last Supper” coming from the parish church of Santa Maria, and a marble monument dedicated to the fallen of the First World War.
