Torre di Castruccio - Pisa in Tuscany
At the foot of the fortress, the imposing Arch of Castruccio is what remains of the medieval town walls. The arch is built of stone ashlars in its lower part and of bricks at the top. All the gates in the fortifications had outer gates and were controlled by guard towers. Little is now visible of the structure of the medieval tower houses, which were considerably altered in subsequent periods with the exception of the Tower of Castruccio (13th century). Worthy of note is the structure of the church, built inside the castle walls.
