Santuario della SS Annunziata - Pisa in Tuscany
Preceded by an elegant portico, it was completely restored in 1714. The interior presents a single nave with mosaic decorations and stuccos; along the walls are tombstones and noble graves. The two stone altars date back to 1624, but they present later additions, too.
The right altar shows an 18th-century painting with the “Guardian angel”, while above the left altar is “The martyrdom of St. Sebastian” attributed to Ranieri del Pace. Particularly noteworthy is the high altar of polychromatic wood, rich in intaglios; in the middle, within a carved frame, there are two statues representing the “Annunciation”: they are two wooden manikins who, according to custom, are wearing precious dresses of that time.
