Chiesa di San Lino, Volterra - Pisa in Tuscany
The church was built by Raffaello Maffei in the place where Pope Linus, Peter’s first successor, probably lived.
The façade is ornamented with a Renaissance portal. The interior, provided with a single nave and vaulted ceiling decorated with frescoes, houses above the high altar a wooden panel depicting the Virgin and Saints by Francesco Curradi; on the side walls are the Virgin’s Nativity by Cesare Dandini (first half of the 17th century) and St. Elisabeth’s Visitation by Cosimo Daddi (1619). The presbyterate houses the funeral monument of Raffaello Maffei, executed in 1522 by Silvio Cosini from Fiesole.
