Oratorio della Madonna del Piano - Pisa in Tuscany
Situated near the stream Pavone, today it is a wing of a farmhouse. It houses a canvas representing the “Virgin and Child” attributed to a Florentine artist of the second half of the 16th century. According to a legend, the painting was brought to light in this place: after being brought to the parish church, it disappeared and later it reappeared miraculously in the same place where it was found.
A chapel was erected to keep and venerate the painting, while a copy was placed in the parish church. The chapel is open to the public for the yearly festival celebrated at the end of May and on some other occasions. Every three years the celebrations are held with a solemn procession.
