Cappella della Compagnia della SS Annunziata - Pisa in Tuscany
The building, situated underground, was probably built during the enlargement work of the parish at the beginning of the 18th century. To be noted are the mosaic decorations on the large circular vault of the roofing and on the side walls. It is a series of frescoes made in 1739 by Giovan Battista Tempesti from Pisa.
The vault depicts “The Eternal”, “Christ’s Nativity” and “The Virgin’s Assumption”. On the corners of the central episode stand out the monochromatic figures of the four prophets, Isaiah, Abacuc, David and Michaea. Above the altar, datable to 1750, are the statues of the “Announcing Angel” and “The Virgin Mary” of enamel-painted plaster.
