Chiesa di San Lorenzo - Pisa in Tuscany
Mentioned since 1251 and enlarged between the 15th and 16th century, it was destroyed by the terrible earthquake of 1846 and rebuilt soon afterwards. Today the building presents an austere façade in neoclassical style divided by three blind arcades enclosing the doors.
In the interior, divided into two side aisles and a nave, above the altar of the right aisle, is the splendid relief of painted terracotta representing the venerated image of the “Rescue Madonna”. On the opposite side is the altar with the polychromatic marble Crucifix, datable to the 18th century. In the Chapel of the Rosary is the 18th-century “Virgin of the Saintly Rosary” belonging to the Pisan School. In the first bay of the left aisle is the 18th-century painting with “St. Lawrence” attributed to Luigi Secchi from Pisa.
