Villa Ott, Crespina - Pisa in Tuscany
Once known as “Villa Filicheto”, it was built by the architect Silvestro Donati in the 18th century for the noble Mecherini family from Pisa. The building shows an irregular shape that looks onto the surrounding hills. The main façade stands in front of the village of Tripalle and once it showed valuable decorations. It is composed of three levels and two symmetric entrances (one of which is false) placed laterally, while a coat of arms stands out in the middle.
The interior shows a large entrance with a balcony. The hall on the owner’s floor had a terrace (closed today) that looked onto the back garden. The villa was restored because of the damages suffered during the last war, when the frescoes by Tempesti and Gabrielli were lost.In addition, the complex houses the oratory of S. Isidoro and of the Madonna del Cuore, rebuilt in 1768 on the remains of an ancient church. In front of the chapel stands the neo-medieval farm with tower of 1881. The park is composed of irregular meadows and forest trees, according to the English style. Inside there is an Italian-style garden.
