Castello e Museo Civico "F. Baldinucci" - Pisa in Tuscany

A frontier stronghold erected in the 11th century, Lari Castle was a dwelling-place of noble families and the seat of Judicial Vicars. Today the castle houses a museum including an 18th-century court room, the so-called Room of Torments, with a collection of instruments of torture, and the dungeons dating from the 16th-19th centuries.

The historic halls contain archaeological finds, numerous works by the Della Robbia and the remains of 14th- and 15th-century frescoes. The castle currently houses the Baldinucci Civic Museum, containing documents on the history of Lari.
