Pisa is most famous for its leaning campanile, yet its other equally notable coups include its long maritime legacy dating to 1000 BC, its prized university and its status as the birthplace of the world’s greatest physicist and astronomer, Galileo Galilei. The Pisans also created one of the most beautiful squares in the world in the Campo dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles). Its key component is the famous Leaning Tower, whose layers of heavy marble were constructed on a shifting subsoil foundation that has been the bane of Pisan engineers for more than 800 years. It seems that the tremulous soil underneath the Field of Miracles has exacted its price on the other buildings too, most notably San Michele dei Scalzi.

Villa Ott, Crespina - Pisa in Toscana
Ex Villa Filicheto, fu costruita dall’architetto Silvestro Donati nel secolo XVIII per la nobile famiglia pisana dei Mecherini. La villa presenta un edificio dalla forma irregolare che si affaccia sui colli intorno. La facciata principale guarda il paese di Tripalle ed un tempo aveva pregevoli decorazioni a pittura. Si articola su tre livelli e ha due entrate simmetriche (di cui una finta) posizionate ai lati mentre al centro spicca lo stemma gentilizio.
L’interno presenta un grande ingresso con ballatoio. Il salone al piano nobile aveva una loggia, oggi chiusa, che si affacciava sul giardino retrostante. La villa è stata restaurata dai danni sofferti durante l’ultima guerra, quando gli affreschi del Tempesti e del Gabbrielli andarono perduti. Il complesso presenta inoltre l’oratorio di S.Isidoro e della Madonna del Cuore ricostruito nel 1768 sui resti di un’antica chiesa.
